Tin Lizzie of Albuquerque members made their way to Dallas, Texas to attend the 48th Annual MTFCA Business Meeting (March 22nd to 24th). This gathering was hosted by the Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter of the MTFCA (Lone Star T’s). The nineteen Tin Lizzies at the Dallas meeting (the best attendance of any of the MTFCA chapters) were: Tom & Cathy Miles, Fran Gurule, Mark & Sharon Dominguez, Dean Van Doren, Linda Rael, Betty Householder, Bernice Young, Neil & Mary Ann O’Brien, Larry & Lorna Azevedo, Allison Berglund & Cole Wedekind (L & L’s daughter/grandson from KC), Paul & Marilyn Duncan and Kirk & Susan Peterson.
The business meeting included a VIP tour of the Cowboy’s Stadium, a lunch at the Trail Dust Steak House (Arlington, TX), a visit to the Texas Fire Museum (Dallas, TX), an awards banquet, and a Sunday morning business meeting.
At the Trail Dust Steak House barbecue lunch. The men were given neck ties to wear into the restaurant and then the staff cut them off. All the cut neckties are labeled and hung on the walls!
At this meeting, our own Tin Lizzie member Tom Miles was given a plaque in recognition of his outstanding service as President of the MTFCA for 2011 and 2012. This award was presented to Tom by the newly elected MTFCA President, Dennis Gorder (Dairyland Tin Lizzies, Baraboo, Wisconson). Thank you Tom for your dedication and service to the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque and the national MTFCA!
The highest honor at the Saturday evening awards banquet was the Rosenthal Award, named after the first President of the MTFCA – Walter Rosenthal, and bestowed on a club member who has made major contributions to the national club, local chapter, and for the promotion and preservation of the Model T hobby. And the winner this year is – the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque senior member Larry Azevedo! Larry has been a driving force in our local club for decades and his and Lorna’s generous sharing of their time, expertise, home, and garage are among the major contributors to the success of our local MTFCA chapter. Congratulations Larry for receiving this well deserved award!
