Sharon Dominguez organized this year’s Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque Christmas Party. The party was held in the banquet room at the Cooperage restaurant on Lomas Blvd. in Albuquerque. The Cooperage is famous for their building (in the shape of a wine barrel) and their aged Black Angus beef.
Our 2018 club president Kirk Peterson welcomed everyone and began the event with a prayer of thanks. We were then treated to a feast of beef, chicken, or fish entrees. Of special note was the Cooperage’s extensive salad bar (over 40 items) that was included with our meals. Topping it off was a selection of deserts.
After the meal, President Kirk awarded certificates of appreciation to the 2018 club officers and board of directors members. Other awards included recognition of a new life member (free club membership beginning at 80 years of age), and the announcement of the “President’s Award” in recognition for outstanding contributions to the club in the past year.
This years President’s Award recipients were Mark and Sharon Dominguez who have tirelessly served in positions ranging from Club President, Secretary, Treasurer, serving on the Board of Directors, and national MTFCA tour organizers through the years. In addition to organizing events such as this Christmas party, Mark D. also coordinates the Tin Lizzies car show at the New Mexico State Fair! Their outstanding contributions and tireless volunteering is one of the reasons why our MTFCA chapter is healthy and growing. Congratulations Mark and Sharon for a well-deserved award!
Kirk also humorously swore in the 2019 Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque officers and board members.
President: Dr. Paul Duncan, Vice President: Dave Ferro, Secretary: Jahn Wright, Treasurer: Dr. Marilyn Duncan; Board Members: Phil Lance, Vern Willan, and Mark Dominguez
Thank you to the outgoing 2018 officers and board members and welcome to the incoming volunteers for 2019!
At a previous club meeting, two charities were identified for Tin Lizzie members to make personal contributions to at the Christmas party. These included the Interfaith Shelter in Santa Fe, and the local Habitat for Humanity. Club members brought items to donate or made cash donations. After the party, Kirk reported: “We collected 218 pairs of socks, 180 razors, shaving cream, mirrors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bars of soap, handkerchiefs, combs and brushes for the Interfaith Community Shelter in Santa Fe AND $200 for Habitat for Humanity”. Thank you to the Tin Lizzie club membership for your generosity!
Thank you to Sharon Dominguez for organizing this event, to Peterson’s and the Willan’s for coordinating the donations this year, and to all of the officers, board members, committee volunteers, Larry and his fantastic garage, and other club members for making the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque such a successful Chapter of the Model T Ford Club of America for another Year!
