Car Show at Rich Ford (Mar. 3, 2019)

Story and photos by Mark Wing

The Rich Ford car dealership in Albuquerque was celebrating its 58th anniversary and the Tin Lizzies were invited to show our cars on Sunday, March 3rd. This is an annual tradition and we appreciate the opportunity to be part of their celebration. This year, the Barnhouse family’s 1919 (100 year-old) touring car was the featured car in the Rich Ford showroom. What a contrast between the Model T touring car and the modern vehicles available today! We had a total of 13 Model Ts on display this day with the earliest being the Azevedo’s 1912 touring car and the newest, the Dominguez’s touring car.

One of the highlights of the day was a visit by the “Mariachi Alma Nuevo Mexico”. These musicians were entertaining the Rich Ford visitors and serenaded us as well. They were a wonderful Mariachi band and expressed a lot of interest in the Model T’s.

In spite of cool and breezy weather, we had a good showing of visitors looking over our cars with some potentially interested in joining our club. Thank you to Linda Riel for organizing our show, and thanks also to Dennis Snyder and the fine folks at Rich Ford, Albuquerque for inviting us!
