Breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe (Mar. 9, 2019)

Story and photos by Mark Wing

To provide a change from our club’s long run of breakfasts at the Weck’s restaurant chain, Mark and Susan Wing chose Mimi’s Cafe, a French-themed restaurant, as our breakfast destination on this Saturday. Mimi’s Cafe is located on the west side of I-25 at an area called “The Shops @25”.

The breakfast was well attended with 32 club members with three Model T’s driven. Neil O’Brien drove his 1916 touring car, Paul and Marilyn Duncan arrived in their 1920 touring, and Dave Ferro and Rebecca Wiegand drove Dave’s 1918 depot hack. Steve Suttle surprised everyone by driving his gorgeous Coral Red 1956 Volkswagen Sedan.

The consensus on this breakfast was that the food was of good quality and the room was comfortable and charming. Unfortunately, the service was slow and the staffing inadequate for the number of club members present. To help alleviate the problem, long time club member Stan Gauna stepped in to make and serve coffee. Thanks Stan! The slow service did provide an opportunity for socializing, but the experience reminded us why we don’t go to Mimi’s Cafe more often.
