Breakfast at Monica’s El Portal Restaurant (Aug. 8, 2020)

Story by Mark Wing. Photos by Mark Wing and Paul Duncan

Paul and Marilyn Duncan were the hosts of our Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque monthly breakfast for August. Under the New Mexico COVID-19 rules, the Duncan’s had to locate a venue with outdoor dining with tables at a minimum of 6-feet apart. Luckily, Monica’s El Portal Restaurant in Albuquerque’s Old Town district fit the bill.

Four Model T’s were driven to the breakfast including the Duncan’s in their 1927 pickup, the Azevedos driving their grandson Cole’s 1927 blue touring car, Mark Wing drove his 1925 touring, and Dave Ferro arrived in his 1918 depot hack. In total, we had 13 club members at the breakfast. Our usual turnout, in non-Covid times, is around 30 club members and guests. During these unusual times, our “at risk” club members are encouraged to stay home and safe from exposure.

We were treated to delicious breakfasts in Monica’s shady patio area. The food and service were great and we wish to thank Monica’s El Portal Restaurant for a wonderful dining experience. Thank you to Paul and Marilyn Duncan for organizing this Tin Lizzie event!
