Work Day at Larry’s Garage (Aug. 8, 2020)

Story by Mark Wing. Photos by Mark Wing and Paul Duncan

Larry held a work day at his home in Corrales, NM after the club breakfast in Albuquerque’s Old Town area. The focus of this small gathering of club members was to remove the engine from Don Neidigk’s 1926 Model T Coupe. This car hasn’t run well since Don acquired it. In addition to being noisy and lacking power, it also leaked a lot of oil. Don decided that it was time to rebuild the engine and transmission with the goal of making it a reliable car for touring.

Don drove the coupe to Larry’s Garage and Larry, Don, Paul, Dave Ferro, and Mark Wing set about removing the engine. After pulling the engine, Larry used is hot water/high-pressure washer to clean the engine, frame, and engine pans. After an afternoon break, engine disassembly began.

Paul and Marilyn Duncan brought the rear differential assembly to their 1918 touring car (pickup conversion). This is a car that Marilyn remembered as a child on her family’s farm in Kansas. On this work day, it was unloaded for disassembly and rebuilding at a future Work Day at Larry’s Garage. Thanks Larry!
