This was the first work party for 2014 and the work party began after the Tin Lizzie breakfast at IHOP, hosted by Don and Barbara Mitchell. Joining us this morning was Charlie Spooner, a member of the Pocos Quatros, the local Model A club. He was interested to see Larry’s shop and get a better idea what the Tin Lizzies did.
Neil O’Brien had the biggest project for the day. He had new spokes for his 1920 Luverne Fire Truck rear wheels. These were TT wheels and it turned out to be quite a challenge with several members assisting Neil with this task.
Mark Wing’s 1925 touring engine block had been machined by Larry and Bob Hawk with new hardened valve seats. The freeze plug holes were corroded, so 7/8″ diameter (oversized) freeze plugs were ordered and a slightly larger seat was milled out.
Bob Ross was fashioning a new bumper bracket out of sheet steel to replace the cracked cast metal one on Tom Miles touring car.
Paul Duncan had new floor boards for his 1920 touring car, but the stock location of the metal cover plate interfered with the petals. Paul and Larry modified the metal and wood to accommodate the petal arms by widening the opening.
Thank you Larry for a great work party!
