Officer Reports

President Mark Dominguez  welcomed 22 members in attendance with quorum established. Zoom not available due to Phil being absent. Thanked VP Vaughn for conducting the meeting in his absence last month.

Vice President Vaughn Rockafellow – raffle (tickets .50 each). There were 5 bags of goodies with winners Dave F, Mark D, Larry A, Steve K and Jeff R (asked Betty H to give his raffle goodie to Joe who coordinated the Happy Days Parade). The “free” table has goodies for the taking.

Secretary Linda Riel – there was a flyer about a car auction in Savannah GA on September 2 & 3.

Treasurer Kirk Peterson – reported on the bank balance and discussion resumed on the tabled motion from last month on the Club having a credit/debit card (Visa Check Card). Revised motion included 2 names on the account Tin Lizzies as well as current Treasurer with a $1,000 daily limit and notifications sent to the email on file. Tin Lizzies will not be liable for fraud. Motion passed with 1 nay.

Standing Committee Reports and Volunteer Coordinators –

Car Council Steve Kranz – since Joyce stepped down and no one has stepped up, they are struggling on how to get the various car clubs active. Members are getting older and the younger generation has a different idea of “classic cars”. Seems they are being used as the scheduler for all clubs with just few participating in meetings compared to past years. Someone has some T parts including TT frames, motor, very rusted out cab.

Email Jessica Lance – (absent) from previous meetings; send your announcement to be sent out to the club as far in advance as you can. When replying to an email, reply to the sender themselves and not the Tin Lizzies email. tinlizziesofabq@gmail.com

Telephone Linda Riel – if anyone would like to be called, let me know.

T n VittleLinda Riel – September 10 will be at Neil & Mary Ann O’Brien’s house @ 9 am. Place still TBD for October and opening for November has been filled by Don Neidigk.

Something malicious came across but was taken care of. If you see something that needs changing or would like to add something, please let her know.

Hospitality Fran Gurule – no cards sent out recently but informed that Phil is recovering. Linda R stated that Cathy M is still in rehab and if you have some spare time, please give Tom M a call.

Librarian Mark Dominguez – let me know what you would like prior to our meeting or we can make arrangements. See under Roy Young Memorial Library on our website which includes manuals to help with the tinkering.

Quartermaster Larry Azevedo – Neil O still owes a Bendix (very hard to locate), Phil L a fan belt, Jim G a stipe cam and Julie D exhaust pipe pack nut, new day timer and manifold gasket set was used and replaced already.

Discussion on how head gaskets are slowly becoming available with various pricing.

Historian Marilyn Duncan – No report.

Leave the parking lot @ 7:50 am and will leave the grounds @ 3:00 pm (important that we are ready to leave at that time). State Police will escort out and let us know when to leave & which car goes first. This is very important. If someone wants to trailer the telephone truck, let Larry A know the week before.

Tour Coordinator Frank Lewark – Socorro Tour for September 15 – 18 (Thursday thru Sunday) 2022. Possible 25 attendees. Paul & Marilyn D along with Dave F will be going a week ahead of time to check everything out. Hotel (Comfort Inn) and tour information will be provided via newsletter and email. Work Party Updates –

Dilts’s Touring was brought in to get checked out with the help of 15 members including newbie Raelyn who did not hesitate to get greasy and even made a lock for the exhaust nut. Had to jump start the battery and got it going but there was a funny clunk – possible dry bearings? Transmission checked out OK. Raelynn pulled the timer & replaced it, coils were checked, replaced the tail pipe & manifold gasket. Brakes still need to be adjusted. Came in for a diagnosis and was released the same day. Larry A gave driving lessons to 5 people in the 12 T while work was going on and no one killed the engine.

Larry A fashioned bushings for a 1909/1910 hub since the holes were too large for Mark W and now is good to go.

Kirk P is still working on Buster for the next Montana 500 (gas shut off, time & did a speed run & reached 54 and discovered if windshield is cracked open a bit with windows up then there was less flutter in the top. Dave F is starting to work on his own 500 car…his touring and currently tackling a rusted block with a good crank shaft and now waiting to get it back from being machined, working on coil box and got bands mounted. Larry A tooled a timer tester and a flow bench to measure carburetors. Jim G got his engine back from the machine shop and did the bearings and checked the cam now ready to assemble. Larry A was discussing the timer on his truck from 14 years ago when it was not running right and discovered a lot of carbon build up. The cam timing is to be 90 degrees but was way off at some points resulting in cylinders firing way off; installed new I timer.

Do we need shop supplies, water, paper towels, coffee etc.? All is good. Members have brought supplies on occasion.

For Sale or Trade –

Tonight’s Program

Wheels part 1 (initial idea brought up by Jim G a few months ago)

Mark W provided very comprehensive 3-page breakdown on the various factory wheels from 1909 – 1927 and even had several wheels with the tires mounted on display as the visuals for the evolution over time. Some smaller bolts & hubs and showing the different shape spokes, styles of fellows & rivets and the patch plate locations, mountable & demountable with all depending on the style of T with the transition of wood to wire spokes.

FYI –

Meeting adjourned 8:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by Linda Riel, Secretary
