January 26, 2023 began at 6:30 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance 

Welcome, Tim, Sharron & Cameron via Zoom and 19 members present.

No guests tonight & no new members

Approval of minutes of the November meeting that were published on the website are approved as published.

All officers are present, and we have a quorum.

Memberships are coming in, we still have some that are outstanding.

Treasure’s Report by Kirk Peterson.      

Checks written to the Vineyard, Vaughn for raffle items, and Larry for parts from Langs. Received membership payments and $150 for a wedding.

Janice G will conduct the audit after the meeting.

We sent a memorial donation of $50 for JoAn Armstrong, $50 Irene Sena

Proposed 2023 Budget was presented.

Board member Dave Ferro motioned we accept the budget as proposed. Motion approved.

Committees reports as follows:

Car Council by Steve Kranz

May 21st, Albuquerque Museum- 2000 Mountain Rd. NW.  No trophies. No swap meet will take place. Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

E-Mail- Philip & Jessica Lance, issues with older emails bouncing back (Hotmail, Juno), solution is to create a new email account with Gmail or another newer established email provider. If help is needed, please contact us for assistance.

Telephone – Linda Riel- no report, Linda is not in attendance.

T n Vittles– Linda Riel – Jessica has the schedule out to membership for sign ups

Newsletter– Paul & Marilyn Duncan- Telephone truck essay and possible tour to La Bajada 

Website– Sharon Dominguez – please submit a photo of your car for the website.  If onc is already loaded and you are happy with it, disregard. 

Hospitality– Fran Gurule reported the passing of JoAn Armstrong 

Librarian– Mark Dominguez reported, let me know if you need anything with a text, call or email.

Quartermaster- Larry Azevedo reported a timing gear and cam shaft from Jim Glover, both items are on backorder. Inventory will take place at the next workday. 

Historian- Marilyn Duncan has been collecting the history of the telephone truck in a binder.  The truck has an interesting story that predates the club. The full story will be in the next newsletter.

Valencia High School– Paul Duncan reported the car show on February 24th. Spoke of the progress of the building of the Model T that was donated by Tom Miles.

Old business:

December 3rd Holiday Party and Corrales Starlight Parade at Larry and Lorna Azevedo barn. The rain held some people from coming out. We all had a great time. Holiday Party, Thank you to Sharon Dominguez, Susan Peterson, Fran Gurule, Linda Riel and Lorna Azevedo for putting together the holiday party.

Congratulations to Philip and Jessica Lance for an outstanding job in 2022 President Award.

Work Party on December 17, 2022- Larry reported that Andy Andrews trailered his new T, a newly purchased 1917 Coupe. Jim Glover worked on his engine restoration. Joe Warren stopped by. Mark Wing was working on 1913 era KW coils and coil box. Dave Ferro was working on the transmission for his Montana 500 car.

January 21, 2023- Larry reported, Frank Lewark and Leonard Scarborough were up from Socorro to work on the hog’s head for Leonard’s 1926 T, tested a timer for Frank; Mark Wing worked on his 1909 block.  He worked on new valves; Dave worked on a pan for his Montana 500 car. New member Dario arrived also to help.  

T n Vittles– On January 14th at Mustang Cafe at Rich Ford – Sharron Geilenfelt

20 people and 3 T’s. Mark & Susan Wing arrived in a 1925 Touring. Dave Ferro drove his 1918 Depot Hack and Larry Azevedo drove his 1925 “Montana 500” Runabout. Vern Willan drove his 1938 Ford Flathead V8 Pickup.

New Business:

Board Meeting– Telephone truck and trailer is currently being unused; we will ask Larry to put a value on the vehicle. We can also donate it to the MTFCA. Motion by Paul to sell the telephone truck and trailer, or the telephone truck. Vern Willan would like to see the Telephone truck donated to the MTFCA. Motion was rescinded. Paul made a motion to donate the telephone truck only to the MTFCA, if they will accept it. Motion passed.

Other discussions at the board meeting were1-Telephone Truck and Trailer; 2-Easy day tours – There are many places to visit.  Let’s get out and drive our cars; 3-Zoom, $157 for the year; 4-Valencia High School; 5-News Letter; 6-Fun activity at the meetings.

Front License Plates on cars discussion. New Mexico is one of 19 states that does not require a front license plate. House Bill 158 would raise the vehicle registration fee by $2 starting July 1, raising an estimated $2.2 million per year to defray the cost of issuing front-end license plates. Rep. Patricio Ruiloba is sponsoring a separate bill, House Bill 157, that would require New Mexicans replace their license plates every eight years.

T n Vittles- February 11th, no one has signed up.  Email will be sent again.

Great Gatsby At Sandia High School – Dave Ferro, Thursday, March 9th 10 am. This will help get the youth interested. 

Swap meet in Chickasha, OK March 17-18 Larry, Kirk, Dave & Philip plan on attending.

MTFCA Annual Meeting March 24-25 Las Vegas, NV 

5th Annual Car Show supporting Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico. Sunday April 30th, 7am-3pm; New Mexico Veterans Memorial, 1100 Louisiana Blvd SE

Montana 500 in Fort Benton, Montana on June 18-21, Kirk, Larry & Dave 

MTFCA 2023 National Tour Manhattan Kansas June 18-23 

Fall Tour to Durango, driving on Wednesday, touring on Thursday, Friday and Saturday driving home on Sunday. Aztec will be on of the days, and the banquet will be at Bar D chuck wagon outside of Durango.  Mesa Verde would be a nice modern car day trip.  Hotel will be announced later. Another possibility is to have a car show at the Elks Lodge which allows us to walk around and shop around Durango. More info to come.
