Meeting Minutes (Sept. 28, 2023)

Minutes for the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque General Meeting

Held at The Vineyard’s clubhouse on September 28, 2023. 

Call to Order:

President Mark Dominguez called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. 

Pledge:

President Mark Dominguez led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Welcome:

President Mark Dominguez welcomed everyone to the meeting 20 members were present and three on Zoom (Cameron, Philip, Jessica, and Don) quorum met. Dwayne Smith is our new member that signed up tonight!

Program- none tonight. Next month will be Lorna and Ernestine

Meet Refreshments- Larry and Lorna Azevedo with Fran Gurule and root beer floats.

Approval of minutes: Larry noted that the minutes needed to reflect that he also spoke about the tear down inspection at the Montana 500 during the program he presented at the August meeting.  The minutes of the August 24, 2023, meeting minutes are approved as corrected. Per THE MODEL T FORD CLUB OF AMERICA- OPERATIONS MANUAL – 2020.

Officers’ reports:

Vice President Report– Vaughn Rockafellow is not present.

Secretary’s Report- Jessica Lance – Thank you note from the Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village.  Two new memberships arrived and will be added to our email list. 

Treasure’s Report– Kirk Peterson, reported the following: balance report at the previous meeting, a list and explanation of receipts/expenses and the current balance. 2 new memberships. 

Committee reports.

Car Council- Steve Kranz has stepped down and we need a new representative, please contact Mark D if interested.

E-Mail Jessica Lance: NMCCC emails are being sent out, we currently have no bounce back emails. We encourage sending announcement to the tin lizzie email address for club distribution for any upcoming event or general news we can use. I will add the two new members to our distribution list.

Newsletter- Paul & Marilyn Duncan. The Duncan’s reported that the newsletter will be sent out on 1st of October. the first week of October (as corrected at the Oct. 26, 2023 meeting).

Valencia High School– Paul has spoken to Anthony about steering on the project car. Kids are now painting the school colors, black and red. The students are taking ownership of the car and doing the work on the car, but they need to start taking leadership of the project.  Conversation continued with the various items needed to get the car started.


Website- Sharon Dominguez – is requesting members to send pictures and a story from TnVittles and work days. Also, please send photos of your car. Always looking forward to articles for the website. Check out upcoming events for all the latest events for the club. Email all articles for the website directly to Sharon mtford.sd@gmail.com.

Hospitality- Fran Gurule reported she sent a get-well card to Liz Scott.

Librarian– Mark Dominguez – Let me know if you need any materials via text, phone, or email.

Don M has a DVD checked out.

Quartermaster– Larry Azevedo reported items out are a cam shaft from Jim G.

Historian- Marilyn Duncan reported she reached out to the intern at MTFCA regarding the telephone truck and will be submitting an article for the MTFCA magazine. 

AZ pioneers volunteer contact a member in Indianapolis to help with information on the truck.

Bernice young is writing an article for the vintage ford and needs pictures regarding her donated ambulance.

Old business

Work party Please visit the website to see the progress on various Tin Lizzie vehicles. 

The workday on September 9th at John Criswell was to repair his 1927. Larry and Mark attended. Saturday, September 16, Get your car ready for the Durango Tour’ Work Day. 

Power Ford on the 4th of September Labor Day. Neil O’Brien won the most unique vehicle with 250 total registered cars. 6 model T’s and a $300 donation.

T n Vittles on September 9, 2023 – John Criswell at Abuelita’s 6083 Isleta Blvd SW 9:00 am.

No T’s and 8 members.  Larry and Mark D. worked on John Criswell touring after breakfast.

State Fair September 10, 2023, we met at 7:30 @ Linn Ave NE and California St NE. To stage, then at 7:55am we drove into the state fair. We had 14 cars on display and at 3:00pm State Police escorted us out.

The Fall Tour Durango, CO. Mark D. – On September 20-24th. On Wednesday at hotel, we had registration and then happy hour with lots of great food.  On Thursday we drove to Aztec, NM to the Aztec Ruins. Then afterwards we had lunch at Aztec restaurant and onto the Pioneer Museum for a tour and ended up eating root beer floats at A&W. With a stop at Lake Nighthorse.

On Friday, we drove to Ignacio, CO and visited the Southern Ute Mountain Cultural Center followed up with lunch at the Sky Ute Casino. We drove back with a stop at Bayfield, CO to look around with a stop for gas and quick car repair for Mark D that kept him off the trouble trailer. On Saturday, drove to Fort Lewis College for a photo shoot. Then we took a scenic route to Baker Bridge. That where they filmed the jump scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sun dance kid.

Then we stopped at Honeyville for a private tour and the rest of the afternoon was on our own until later that night, when we had dinner at the Bar D Chuckwagon. On Sunday, sadly we departed home. 

I want to thank Kirk and Susan Peterson, Andy Andrews, Sharon Dominguez for all the hard work on making this tour possible and Gretchen Frederich for driving the trouble trailer (which nobody had to use). Thank you to all the tour participants that lent a helping hand when needed.

  • • Dec 2nd, Twinkle Light Parade and Christmas Party in Corrales at Azevedo’s with the Installation of officers with holiday party. Sharon D invited ideas regarding the meal.
