Story by Larry Azevedo; Pictures by Paul Duncan
We had a well-attended work day on Saturday, October 28. Jim Glover brought a young friend, Mark Wing, Mark Dominguez, Roger Burton, Frank Lewark, Phil Lance with his brother-in-law Roman and his son Roman Jr., Don Neidigk, Austin, and Paul Duncan came. Roger brought and old vise that needed a replacement jaw. The replacement jaw was machined on the milling machine. Mark Wing brought a one-piece front spindle (early Ford and very rare) that had a worn groove in the spindle threads. We gas welded up the gap and then turned the weld down to size and finally cut new left-hand threads in sync with the original threads on the big lathe. This was an interesting problem! Phil and Frank mounted and dismounted the wheels on Dave’s Montana 500 car and then Mark Dominguez mounted the tires on new rims. Paul checked out his generator and found that it was not working and has decided to replace it with a new alternator.
