Work Party at Larry’s Garage (May 31, 2014)

This work party saw progress on some ongoing projects, such as continued work on Bruce Daniel’s 1925 Tudor engine, boring of Mark Wing’s rods for his 1925 touring car, and work on Dave Ferro’s 1918 depot hack.

In addition to the typical work party projects, Tom Miles brought a 1926/27 Model T touring car body back from Tulsa, OK, for the club to work on.  The car was donated by Mark Freimiller, (owner of the Model T Haven in Iola, KS), and is destined to sit on top of a water tower in Richmond, Indiana, the home of the Model T Ford Museum.  The Tulsa club had assembled most of the parts, and the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque were to do some additional assembly and prepare the car for a sprayed weather-resistant bed-liner coating before the car is welded in place on the water tower.  This car was heavily weathered and the body panels not in restorable condition, so this “Water Tank Model T” is not a huge loss to the hobby!  Work on the touring included welding patch panels for the front doors, windshield stanchions, and a hood.  At the end of the work party, the touring was very close to being ready for coating.  When that procedure is completed in Albuquerque, Tom Miles will take it to Richmond for installation.

Thank you to Larry and the club member volunteers for making this a unique and productive work party, and to Tom Miles for his total dedication and contributions to the MTFCA and Model T hobby!
