State Fair Car Show (Sept. 14, 2014)

The Tin Lizzies annual car show at the New Mexico State Fair this year was on Sunday, September 14th.  Vaughn Rockafellow, a long-time Tin Lizzies member and our resident club jester, organized the event which started with our meeting at 7:30 AM at the intersection of Central Ave. and San Pedro Drive.  The only minor mishap this day was Luke (Larry and Lorna’s son-in-law) backing the 1926 speedster out of the trailer and the rear left tire slipping off the trailer ramp.  With enough manpower, the rear end was lifted back onto the ramp and Luke was back in business!  We had 18 Model T’s this morning and we drove into the Fair grounds around 8 AM.  After parking and setting up, everyone spent the day sitting under the trees, talking to curious visitors, looking at the Fair exhibits, and eating Fair food.

At 3 PM, it was time to go.  The Fair organizers arranged to have everyone depart the Fairground depending on whether they wanted to turn north or south on San Pedro Drive.  The weather was perfect and it was a very pleasant day!

Thank you Vaughn for organizing this event!
