Larry held work parties on both Saturday Oct. 25th and on Monday the 27th. There were several project in progress these two days as well as progress on five engines in various stages of rebuilding.
Making a rare appearance at a work party was long-time Tin Lizzie member Nick Serna. Nick who owns his own business is usually very busy on Saturday’s, but was able to make it to Larry’s garage to work on his coils. Also making an appearance was Eric, a friend of Roger Burton’s. We hope that Eric gets the Model T bug and joins our club!
Art Gebeau and Larry have made great progress on Art’s 1926 speedster engine. They had rebabbitted the main bearings and bored them. Art was installing a new SCAT crankshaft and a Stipe 250 cam as well as installing a new Dan McEachern cam gear.
Dave Ferro was assembling his 1918 engine after making repairs to his magneto field coil. After mounting the field coil, he was cleaning and adjusting the magnets and retainer plates to the correct clearances. Dave’s 4th main bearing had also been rebabbitted and the bearing surfaced turned down.
Neil O’Brien had brought parts from his son Tim’s 1923 Model T fire truck. Neil was working on straightening a bent axle (probably from towing) as well as restoring the tie rod.
Mark, who has two engines at Larry’s garage, was replacing the shafts in two sets pedals as there was too much play and leakage when installed in the hogs heads. Larry had perfected his boring techniques to be able to bore out the pedal shaft holes, install new Oilite bushings and modern oil seals. Mark’s goal was to replace the shafts, bushings, seals, and paint the hogshead before the engine in his 1925 coupe can be reassembled.
Thank you Larry for these relaxing and productive work parties!
