Larry’s Garage was humming with activity this Saturday, February 27th.  Joining Work Party regulars were Phil and his daughters Danielle and Jessalyn. Their focus was to continue work on disassembly of their 1919 engine/transmission.  We’re very impressed that these two young ladies dove right in on this project.  Larry has also been teaching them about measuring parts with micrometers and machining techniques.  We hope this interest develops into a life-long hobby!

John Hayne brought a front axle in need of a reaming operation for its bushings.  Bob Hawk, a retired Sandia National Laboratories machinist, assisted John with this operation.

Kirk Peterson uses a 12-volt motorcycle battery to power his coils.  To reduce the number of wires in his 1925 Model T coupe “Buster”, Kirk had installed a terminal block to more efficiently make electrical connections.

Larry has been patiently guiding Mark through his 1925 touring car engine/transmission rebuild.  The multi-year project is at the point of final assembly with a ball bearing 4th main and the clutch plates installed.  The hogs head pedal shaft bearing area was showing over 0.010″ wear and Larry has perfected a process of boring the hogs head with his Bridgeport mill so the pedal shaft holes can accept new Oilite bushings.  This, combined with new shafts for all the pedals, will ensure minimal leakage in the future.  New pedal cams will also help with smooth pedal action.
