The Tin Lizzies were invited to show our cars at New Mexico’s largest Ford dealership, Rich Ford in Albuquerque. Rich Ford holds an annual anniversary celebration and this is their 52nd year in business. We began assembling our ten cars and firetruck on the west side of their lot around 8:30. A few of the members trailered their cars to the show including Kirk and Susan Peterson (who live in Santa Fe), Skip Dunn who lives two hours away (Los Alamos), and Dave and Ann Merewether – who recently joined our club who brought their 1917 runabout-pickup from Albuquerque’s west side (west of the Rio Grande). Among the Tin Lizzies that day were the 1917 runabout-pickup (mentioned above), Neil’s show stopping 1920 Luverne firetruck, Linda’s 1926 Fordor “Lulu Belle” (famous for being in the movie on Georgia O’Keeffe), club president Dean’s 1926 coupe “Katy”, Mark and Susan’s 1925 coupe, Don Souther’s 1924 Tudor, Don Mitchell’s 1927 Tudor, Skip’s 1914 touring (unique for it’s period customized nickel-plated trim), Larry and Lorna’s 1912 touring, Steve’s 1925 coupe, and Kirk and Susan’s 1927 touring.
The day was spent eating in the dealership’s “Mustang Cafe”; partaking of the free pizza, hotdogs, and tacos; talking to curious visitors; relaxing; and our favorite activity – talking about Model Ts.
Thank you Rich Ford and Happy Anniversary!
