Thursday, July 4th, 2024, dawned a bright and warm day. To celebrate our nation’s independence the Tin Lizzies were invited to participate in the Corrales parade; to be followed by a BBQ of hamburgers and hotdogs at the home of Larry and Lorna Azevedo who live in Corrales. We assembled at the Azevedo’s prior to leaving for the parade staging area, may of the drivers started decorating their cars. As 8:50 am rolled around we left the Azevedo’s to drive to our assigned staging area. A few of the t’s missed the right turn and ha to go up the road, make a U-turn, and come back down the main road in Corrales to get to the correct side road for the staging area. We all had a few laughs at their expense, and then got back to decorating our cars and waiting for the parade to begin.
The parade route was not very long, but it was full of spectators! I would say the crowds were back to pre-Covid sizes.
After our cars made their way to the end of the parade route we continued around the loop and made our way back to the Azevedo’s home where we were treated to lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs, along with all the wonderful side dishes and desserts everyone to enhance the main course.
Thanks Larry and Lorna for hosting yet another wonderful day at your home.
