Story and photos by Mark Wing
Dave Ferro was our host for the Tin Lizzies breakfast for July. He selected Abuelita’s New Mexican Kitchen on Isleta Blvd., located in a beautiful and rural part of Albuquerque’s South Valley (near the Rio Grande). 27 club members and guests attended the breakfast this morning with five Model T’s. Dave drove his 1918 depot hack, the Duncan’s drove their 1920 touring car, Don Mitchell arrived in his 1926 Tudor, Larry Azevedo came with his grandson Derek in his 1921 “Gilmore” speedster, and Neil O’Brien drove his 1916 Model T touring car from far north Albuquerque.
Showing up for his first club breakfast was our youngest member of the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque family – Hunter, the 7 month old son of members Gabe and Samantha Sanchez, grandson of Mark and Sharon Dominguez, and great-grandson of long-time Tin Lizzie member Lena Schritter. It was Mark and Sharon that brought Hunter and his sister Lilly to Abuelita’s this morning.
It was a enjoyable breakfast in a nice southwestern themed atmosphere. After breakfast, Dave Ferro (club VP) and Paul (club President) and Marilyn Duncan (club Treasurer) drove their Model T’s south to the town of Belen for research – the destination of next week’s tour! Thank you to Dave for hosting this great Tin Lizzie event!
