Story and photos by Mark Wing
Bob and Robbi Ross were the hosts for this month’s Tn’Vittles breakfast. They chose the Daily Grind Restaurant on Cutler Ave. near I-40. This restaurant has a nice contemporary atmosphere and well-prepared yet inexpensive breakfast fare. We had a modest showing of 13 club members and only Don Mitchell drove a Model T to this breakfast. Larry Azevedo was hosting a Work Day at his garage in Corrales after the breakfast so that accounted for several members driving modern cars to the breakfast so they could drive to Corrales later.
The discussion at this breakfast was primarily about the Coronavirus emergency that was gripping the country. President Trump and the New Mexico Governor had declared states of emergency only days before. The stock market had also plunged approximately 25% off of it’s recent highs. The short-term implications for our old car hobby were the postponement of the Chickasha and Bakersfield pre-war swap meets (announced two days after this club breakfast occurred). Our club President Paul Duncan also canceled the March Tin Lizzie monthly meeting at the Vineyard Retirement Community. At the present, there is great uncertainty and trepidation in the country. No doubt, this will make for some interesting stories in the future when this crisis fades away!
Our thanks to Bob and Robbi Ross for hosting this club breakfast.
