Buster’s Transformation (Nov. 6, 2021)

Story and photos by Paul Duncan (unless otherwise noted).

So, what was going on Saturday November 6 at Larry’s work day? Kirk Peterson’s 1924 Coupe Buster was back in the shop to exchange engines and to exchange differentials.

This was a first for Larry’s garage. Never, has a T been driven into the garage and one day later driven out with a different rebuilt engine and differential in place.

The best parts of the day were not the mechanical exploits but the socializing and the pizza party from The Village Pizza in Corrales afterwards. This was the most attended workday since SARS-COV-2 ended such gatherings in March 2020. I was happy to see many members including the women in the club. There were at least 20 Tin Lizzie members there during this momentous day. Larry and Lorna Azevedo, Mark and Sharon Dominguez, Paul and Marilyn Duncan, Phil and Jessica Lance, Mark and Susan Wing, Kirk Peterson, Don Neidick, Jim Glover, Andy Andrews with his dog Jackie, Vern Willan, Danielle Lance, Joe Warren, Steve Kranz and Frank Lewark. Susan and Mark brought Susan’s brother and sister-in-law visiting from Orange County, CA to the shop. Neil O’Brien stopped by. This was indeed a happening and my apologies if I missed anyone who came.

I was gratified to see Phil Lance back in the shop working. He sported a wispy beard and he sounded good and he was more than willing to assist. The intense medical treatment he has been going through the past 4 months has been thankfully effective.
