La Vida Llena, “the full life”, is a large retirement community in the northeast part of Albuquerque. It’s a complex with a wide-range of housing options that fosters an independent and active lifestyle, but also provides additional support as it’s residents needs change. Linda Riel, one of our senior club members and a master organizer, coordinated our Father’s Day car show at La Vida Llena. In addition to showing our Model T’s, the community provided the residents and the Tin Lizzies with musical entertainment, grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, pie, ice cream, and drinks.
Nine of our club Model T’s made it to this event. In addition to delighting the residents by seeing the cars, Linda coordinated giving the residents and their guests rides. Many of these residents grew up driving Model A Fords, or in many cases, had ridden in cars with rumble seats. Others had relatives that owned Model Ts. Everyone had a blast riding in the T’s, eating, and enjoying the shade of the trees. The residents also voted for their favorite Model T and Stan Gauna and his 1917 depot hack was the first place winner!
Thanks to the nice staff and residents at La Vida Llena and to Linda for organizing this memorable event.
