Story and photos by Mark Wing
Dave Ferro organized the Tin Lizzies participation in a summer picnic, sale, and car show at the Belen Harvey House Museum. This event, from noon to 4pm, included free refreshments, live entertainment, tours of the museum, a book sale, a Christmas in July sale, and spinning demonstrations by the local Fiber to Finish Guild. The Tin Lizzies had attended this fund raising event in 2019, prior to the COVID-19 shutdown. Our club participation was light this year due to the date coinciding with the MTFCA national tour in Spokane, Washington with many of our active club members present.
Dave Ferro, with passenger Mark Wing, drove his 1918 depot hack the approximate 30 miles to Belen. Dave also brought along his 6-month old Scottish Terrier – Kinsey. Kinsey’s first Model T trip was a success and she spent the day being lavished attention in a pen under a tree. Steve Langdon, who lives only three miles away from the Belen Harvey House, drove his 1926 Model T Coupe to the event. Club members Bob Hawk and Liz Scott were part of the day’s entertainment with their square dancing group.
We had an opportunity to talk to a number of visitors who were very interested in our cars and hopefully some of them will join our club! Thank you to Dave Ferro and Frances Zeller for organizing this event.
