On Sunday, December 2nd, the Tin Lizzies participated in the annual Starlight Parade in the Village of Corrales, NM. Corrales is a semi-rural community of approximately 8,300 people north of Albuquerque on the west side of the Rio Grande. Larry and Lorna Azevedo graciously opened their house in Corrales as the club’s gathering place and the site of the party that followed the parade.
Parade participants gathered around 4PM to decorate their cars and then moved onto the parade staging area at 5PM. The parade commenced once darkness fell. This year was notable as the temperature was in the 50’s – much warmer than in previous years where it’s typically in the 30’s or 40’s. The spectators lined the streets of Corrales Road, the main street in the Village, waving and exchanging holiday greetings. The Tin Lizzies had a good showing of eight cars.
After the parade, it was a short drive back to Larry and Lorna’s home for a potluck party in their “Big Barn”! It was an enjoyable evening and our deepest appreciation go out to Larry and Lorna for hosting this annual club event and graciously sharing their home with our club!
