Sunday’s breakfast was an opportunity to dine with fellow club members one last time before saying goodbye to the Plaza Hotel and returning home. It was wonderful to see many of our friends again after a long hiatus and to meet new ones.
Our thanks to our “Following the Santa Fe Trail Tour” organizers, Paul and Marilyn Duncan, and Dave Ferro. They made multiple trips to Las Vegas for research and thoroughly documented and coordinated our activities as well as they could in spite of Covid-19 challenges. All that preparation paid off as the tour was well organized, interesting, and a lot of fun! A special thanks to Marilyn Duncan who generously drove the “trouble trailer” during the tour. Larry Azevedo provided his extensive Model T knowledge and problem solving skills to fix Mark Wing’s touring car, Kirk Peterson’s coil on his 1927 touring, and got Andy Andrews’ 1924 touring car running again in time to participate in the Day 4 tour to Mora, NM.
Thank you also to the park rangers and tour guides that helped us appreciate the important history of this part of northern New Mexico. The community of Las Vegas, NM was very warm and genuinely interested in our cars. Many residents we met recalled our club’s visit nine years earlier. Thank you Las Vegas and best wishes as your community recovers from the Covid-19 impacts. With it’s rich history and great scenic beauty, Las Vegas, NM and the surrounding communities are a wonderful place to visit!
