Hawaiian Luau at the Azevedo’s (July 21, 2018)

Larry and Lorna Azevedo held a Hawaiian Luau at their home in Corrales on Saturday, July 21st for approximately 70 guests.  Attending the Luau on this humid summer’s evening were members of the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque as well as Larry and Lorna’s neighbors and members of dance groups where Lorna is a student.  The event included a Hawaiian-themed potluck dinner, island-inspired decorations and entertainment in the form of Hula and Tahitian dances and singing.

These dances were performed by members of Desert Stars Polynesia and Sophisticated Ladies.  The entertainment was MC’d by Roy of Desert Star Polynesia who was the DJ in charge of coordinating the Hula and Tahitian music for the performances.  During a costume change by the dancers, Roy sang “Tiny Bubbles” and two songs by Elvis Presley.

The dancing and costuming were very professional and everyone listened intently to the stories behind the music, dance moves and hand gestures, and the significance of the costumes.

From the food to the entertainment – a wonderful time was had by all that evening in a truly magical setting.  Thank you Larry and Lorna for hosting such an incredible and memorable event!
