Larry Azevedo Inducted into the Speedster and Racer Hall of Fame (June 26, 2021)

Our own Larry Azevedo is shown holding his plaque inducting him into the Speedster and Racer Hall of Fame, June 26, 2021. The plaque reads:

LARRY AZEVEDO, Speedster Collector, Builder

“Larry’s love for speedsters began in 1965 when he visited Harrah’s Automobile Collection in Sparks, NV with his family. He saw a 1922 Model T speedster with an Ames body and decided to build a speedster as a high school auto shop project. Larry bought a picture postcard of the Ames speedster and over the next year, with the help of his dad, and his machine shop and auto shop instructors, finished his first speedster. He entered that speedster for the first time in the annual Santa Clara Speedster Run in 1972. he loved it so much, he’s participated in speedster runs with his family for 39 years.

Over the years, Larry has collected and/or built six speedsters. He has also helped many local chapter members (Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque), build their own speedster engines and cars, as well as helping other friends in the Model T community build speedster engines.

The Azevedo family has a rich tradition with speedsters; Larry’s wife Lorna, dad George, brother Don and sister Shirley, each have speedsters. Larry’s grandson, Cole, has continued the tradition with the complete restoration of his own 1927 Touring with a Fronty engine.

Larry & family have discovered how much people enjoy seeing their speedsters in the tours, fairs and parades in which they participate. Larry loves to give people of all ages rides and/or driving lessons!”

Congratulations Larry for this wonderful award and for the recognition of your service to the hobby!
