7/28/2022

Call meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. 

Pledge of Allegiance

Welcome any new members and guests – No new members yet but Ray & Raelynn Gabaldon will be turning in application. John Hayne made a surprise appearance along with Chris Otto, Frank Lewark & Leonard Scarborough, John & Vickie Gibbs who we have not seen in a while. 

Officers Present: Mark Dominguez (absent), Vaughn Rockafellow, Linda Riel & Kirk Peterson 

Board of Directors Present: Phil Lance (absent), Jeff Richards & Mark Wing  

Minutes from the June meeting were approved as published on our website. 

Officer Reports –  

President Mark Dominguez (absent) VP Vaughn R welcomed 30 members in attendance with quorum established. Zoom not available.

Vice President Vaughn Rockafellow conducted the meeting for President Mark. Dave F stood in for VP Vaughn on the raffle (tickets .50 each). There were 5 bags of goodies with winners Kirk P, Leonard S (2 times), Raelynn G & Steve K.

Secretary Linda Riel stated that there was a post card about an auction in Savannah GA. 

Treasurer Kirk Peterson Reported on the bank balance and brought up the idea of having a credit/debit card (Visa Check Card) for the purpose of paying our website fees for Mark W and Zoom capability for President Mark D with Larry A making the motion & Vickie G being 2nd. After much discussion on the pros (ease of paying) & cons (no federal protection on debit & other clubs using it with no problem). Motion was tabled to next month.

Standing Committee Reports and Volunteer Coordinators –

Car Council Steve Kranz – Swap Meet for September has been CANCELED. August 7 there will be a picnic with bring your own stuff. Joyce Clemens is stepping down after many years and with a lot of the active people aging, the Club (after maybe 70 years) is forced to re-group. 

Email Jessica Lance – (absent) Linda R provided report. Emails Have been going out. One bounce back from Gene B. This does occasionally happen. When possible, please send your announcement to be sent out to the club as far in advance as possible. Just a reminder when replying to the Club email, you are replying to Jessica L (the email chair) to tinlizziesofabq@gmail.com.

Telephone Linda Riel – If anyone would like to be called, let me know. 

T n VittleLinda Riel – August 6th will be at Larry & Lorna A’s house. They would like to have a photo shoot of the cars & members in period clothing for submission to MTFCA with hopes of making as a cover for the Vintage Ford. 

Place still TBD for October and still have an opening for November.

Meeting Refreshments Linda Riel – Tonight provided by the members for our Ice Cream Social. Lots of yummies. Next Month 8/25 will be provided by RitaLoy & Dave F. Still have opening for second spot in September. 

Newsletter Paul & Marilyn Duncan – Waiting on President’s Message for July/August issue and will posted when received. 

Webmaster Sharon D – (absent) Posted 4th of July Parade & BBQ along with July T n Vittles. Fixed Website (technical problem).

Hospitality Fran Gurule – Card sent out to Phil L who is still is hospital but coming along. Susan W is progressing with the ups & downs. Tom M said Cathy M has fallen but doing OK now.

Librarian Mark Dominguez – (absent) Let me know what you would like prior to our meeting or we can make arrangements. See under Roy Young Memorial Library on our website which includes manuals to help with the tinkering. 

Quartermaster Larry Azevedo – Neil O still owes a Bendix. 

Historian Marilyn Duncan – No report.

State Fair contact Mark Dominguez – (absent) Sunday the 11th of September. We will meet at Parking lot on the corner of Linn Ave and California between 7:15 – 7:30 am Parking for trailers and modern Cars. We leave the parking lot at 7:50 am sharp. Will leave at 3:00 pm. Important that we are ready to leave at that time. Will have a State Police escort out. They will let us know when to leave and which car goes first. This is very important.

Tour Coordinator Frank Lewark – Socorro Tour for September 15 – 18 (Thursday thru Sunday) 2022. Hotel (Comfort Inn) and tour information will be provided via newsletter and email. The Socorro Fest is going on at the same time.

Unfinished business (Old) –  

Valencia High School Paul D – Nothing new to report.

Corrales 4th of July Parade with Annual BBQ to follow at Azevedo’s had about 10 T’s & 18 A’s with at least 80 – 90 people. A bit of confusion on lineup but other than that it was good except for Dave F driving the Azevedo’s white speedster needed to be towed back. Route went a bit longer than normal (to end of line rather than turn left to Azevedo’s). Two TV stations captured a little bit of the T’s in the parade (bottom of Telephone Truck).

T n Vittles Breakfast on 7/9 was a picnic lunch hosted by Vaughn R held at Jerry Cline Park with 2 T’s, 11 Lizzies and 1 dog present.

New business –  

Elks Lodge 2430 Central SE is having an open house on August 6. Contact Stan & Janice Gauna for additional information. CANCELLED but re-scheduled to October. Will update accordingly.

Hardin Field on Kirkland AFB Car Show August 19th Friday – Stan and Janice Gauna. Registration forms need to be turned in by 8/12. Enter through Gibson & Eubank gates from 10 am till 3:30 pm.

Happy Days Parade at the Vineyard on Saturday, August 20th. Arrive by 8 am and park on Edith Blvd NE then parade into park (follow leader). Hosted by park residents with hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks served at no charge. DJ 

music by “Bob & Ted.” Awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, People’s Choice and Best of Show. Judging done by residents. Need 30 classic vehicles of all years with NO entry fees. Please call Joe at 505 235 5900 to RSVP. This event is for park residents only and classic vehicle participants. We could have 3 T’s making an appearance.

Rich Ford Edgewood on Saturday 8/27. 

An email regarding a wedding on September 15 (Thursday). They are looking for a T to take them from Old Ysidro Church to Los Poblanos Farm. Mark Dominguez will drive and will be confirming the time. 

Holiday party will coincide with Corrales Holiday Parade. Larry & Lorna have offered use of their barn for our festivities. Details will be forthcoming as time gets closer.

General Odd’s n End’s – 

Paul D mentioned that members should be carrying a fire extinguisher in their T — perhaps modern vehicles as well. Fire Safety Industries 3428 Stanford NE.

Bob’s Antique Auto Parts has gone out of the new parts & manufacturing business (sold to Birdhaven) but will still do used parts.

For Sale or Trade –  

John H has on hand copies of his used parts catalog.

A Chaffin’s catalog is up front if you want.

Vaughn R has some free shelves available. Please let him know if you would like to take them off his hands.
