Rich Ford Anniversary Car Show (Mar. 26, 2022)

Story and photos by Paul & Marilyn Duncan.

On Saturday, March 26, 2022 we returned to the Birthday Car Show at the Rich Ford dealership in Albuquerque. The last time we participated in the event was in March, 2020 just before the pandemic shutdown.

Eight Tin Lizzie T’s were on display.  Mark & Sharon brought two of their Model T collection that included their 1927 Touring and 1925 Tudor. They set up informative signs that summarized the history of each car. Don Mitchell drove his 1927 Tudor sedan, aka “Best Route 66 Cruiser.” Paul & Marilyn Duncan arrived in their 1927 Roadster Pickup.  Vern Willan and his neighbor drove in Vern’s 1926 Roadster pickup from the east mountains via Old Route 66.  Stan Gauna drove his 1923 Depot Hack and immediately let visitors sit in the T and honk the horn.  Larry Azevedo drove grandson Cole Wedekind’s 1927 Touring. Dave Ferro drove the Azevedo’s 1923 plumbing truck and hauled their sunshade canopy.

The on-site Mustang Café was open and many of us started the morning there. Several Tin Lizzies joined without cars: Linda Riel (coordinator), Jeff Richards, Mark Wing, Don Neidigk and his grandson Ben Neidigk, John Hayne and Jim Glover and Judy Chavez.

The weather was sunny and became quite warm by noon. As usual we talked about our T’s and answered many questions. Visitors told us that they had heard about our car show on the radio.
