Story and Photos by Paul Duncan
Fourteen Tin Lizzies gathered at Jimmie’s off Jefferson north of Osuna on a very nippy January morning. There were no Model T’s today. When we arrived, Janice Gauna had just tasted some very hot green chile. We ordered Christmas on our carne adovada and the green chile was ok. Actually, we have had four or five breakfasts here over the years after they added the large room on the north side. Paul also noted that a number of clubs meet here regularly including business groups, the Rotary and a Masons. There is also a large US Flag on the west wall. After I get fasting lab work at Tricore , I often come here for breakfast and lose any benefit from the fast.
Today Tom and Judy Martus came, and Tom reported that he needs to redo his front end on his T at a future workday. Marilyn talks with Judy and Tom pays his dues. Hosts Susan and Mark Wing have just returned from LA and witnessed the destructive fires. They host the Tin Lizzie Board tomorrow for dinner and Mark’s first board meeting as President. Vaughn Rockafellow talks to Betty Householder about getting 100 $2 bills at a time from the bank-all in sequence. He does a good job at getting them into circulation. Angel and Lucian Peña discuss their search for a Model T and are very impressed with Mark Wing’s beautifully restored 1925 Coupe. Linda Riel and Jeff Richards carry on a discussion with Stan Gauna about his adding lots of jelly to his already soaked pancakes in syrup. Stan handles it in good fun.
Many of this group assembled yesterday to pay our respects to Lena Schritter at her funeral and burial in Rio Rancho.
