On Sunday, September 29th, over fifty Tin Lizzie members and guests assembled in Larry and Lorna’s barn for a pizza lunch and the showing of “Wheels of Yesteryear”, a half hour documentary of the Tin Lizzie tour to Portales. The recent tour in May was organized and coordinated by Tin Lizzie members and Portales residents Orlando, Melody, and Ethan Ortega. Orlando brought copies to distribute of the latest KENW program guide that has a picture of the Tin Lizzies parked on the historic plaza in Las Vegas, NM. The cover also says “Wheels of Yesteryear” and “Touring with the Tin Lizzies”.
Joining the Tin Lizzies for the viewing were the folks from Amarillo, Texas who were with us on the Portales tour. In fact, Les and Ruth Haley have joined our club and Ken Hanson will soon!
The documentary of the tour was produced by public television station KENW in Portales. Introducing the documentary were Duane Ryan (KENW General Manager), and Orlando Ortega (KENW Operations Manager). Gary and Nicole Marsh, the owners of Production Outfitters who made the film, were also there as were their children Dylan, Spencer, and Melanie. Zack, who works for Production Outfitters, was instrumental in setting up the three monitors and speakers in the barn for the showing. He was also a member of the film crew on the tour.
The documentary was fantastic! Not only did it cover many of the highlights of our tour, it also gave viewers some historical perspective on Model T’s through period film clips and through interviews with club members. The film also included a work party at Larry’s garage to show how we maintain our cars.
Our thanks to everyone that created this documentary, coordinated the tour, provided the venue for the event, and came from far away to attend!
