This Tuesday work day at Larry’s Garage saw a continuation of projects such as Mark Wing cleaning an engine block for his 1915 Coupelet project. This block was located in Northern California and showed no signs of freeze cracks. Although a bit worn, the block was in very good condition. The day was devoted to wire brushing it in preparation for dropping it off at Empire Engines for machining work. Empire will bore the valve guides and the tappets to 1/64″ oversize. Due to some deep pitting from weather exposure, the block will be bored to 0.030 or 0.040″ oversize depending on what the machinists recommend. Were it not for the corrosion due to improper storage, the block probably could have been bored to just 0.020″ oversized.
Don Neidigk continued on his rear differential/driveline project for his 1926 coupe. In addition to Larry, club members Dave and Paul helped Don clean and insert a new bushing for the driveshaft.
