Work Party at Larry’s Garage (May 4, 2013)

Russell drove his 1926 touring car to the work party on Saturday, May 4th, to adjust his bands and clean his transmission screen in readiness for the Portales tour.

Tom Miles was working to install new Kevlar bands for his 1926 touring car restoration project.  He was also cleaning and assessing the parts needed to rebuild his rear differential.  After measuring the tapered axle shafts, Larry found them to have too much wear.  Rummaging through his  parts inventory, Larry found two good ones allowing Tom to move forward with his project.

Bob and Larry had worked on rebuilding the transmission during the week and it was now ready for installation.  With several club members assisting, the engine was reinstalled quickly.  When the work party ended in the afternoon, Bob was still attaching hoses, and making adjustments,  but he was very close to having his roadster roadworthy again and ready for the tour.

The Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque’s newest member attended the work party that day.  Herb Padgett, of Grants, NM had planned to bring his 1909 touring car, but, unfortunately, wasn’t able to do so.  He did bring a 1915 carburetor for the car to seek advice on it’s restoration.  Herb is close to having the rare 1909 T drivable, and entire club is anxious to see it!
