Story by Larry Azevedo; Pictures by Paul Duncan
We had a very busy workday on Saturday, April 6. There were participants from Durango, CO, Santa Fe, Socorro, Belen, Los Lunas and the East Mountains including Andy Andrews, Jeff Richards, Ray Gabaldon, Paul and Marilyn Duncan, Dave Ferro, Vern Willan, Kirk Peterson, Mark Dominguez, Frank Lewark, John Burnett, Ken Carpenter, Larry Azevedo, John Criswell, Roger Burton, Tim and Karen Heer and Sean and Christi Hughes. Three patients came on trailers and all three, by the end of the day, were able to climb back on their trailers under their own power. Andy’s patient was no trouble; it was thought to have a blood pressure problem but the pressure was found to be working OK.
John’s patient was a little more work. The nervous system (coils) were checked and adjusted to provide better jolts. After a fair amount of work the patient went out for a run but unfortunately could only manage a brisk walk. It had enough energy to climb into the trailer but will need more work in the future. A colonoscopy and heart valve work may be needed.
Ken’s patient was in cardiac arrest, arriving with an empty stomach, severely dehydrated, and no brain activity. A hole in the stomach was quickly fixed with a plug and food was poured in. Dehydration was addressed with an appropriate low freezing point liquid. The absent brain activity was fixed with adding fresh charge carriers and ultimately a pulse was detected. With a few minor adjustments the patient was more than able to climb back onto the trailer.
Other activities included Dave Ferro finishing the complexion of his patient after a recent face lift. There were plenty of interns floating about helping and bs-ing.
Great day!
