After the visit to Capitan, we hit the
road again for nearby Ft. Stanton which has many historic buildings, was formerly a hospital, and now a museum.
Fort Stanton is the best preserved pre-Civil War fort in the nation and saw such notables as "Blackjack" Pershing
of WWI fame and the black regiment known as the "Buffalo Soldiers".
