4th of July Parade and Potluck in
Corrales
The Tin Lizzies had a fantastic turnout for the annual July 4th Corrales parade and
potluck. We had 22 Model T’s in the parade with many Lizzies and friends
catching rides where they could. Among the participants were Dave and Dani King who came with friends Bruce
and his wife all the way from Salt Lake City with their beautifully restored 1913 touring.
Everyone gathered first at the Azevedo's to decorate their cars and then drove on to a staging area
to await our turn to join the parade. The Tin Lizzies were one of around fourteen
groups joining in the parade that day. With Neil's Laverne firetruck leading the way, the
parade went very smoothly with no breakdowns!
The parade was followed by a restful and delicious picnic at the
Azevedo's under the cottonwood trees. The picnic was so well attended that the sixty hamburgers and
dozens of hotdogs Larry and Lorna had provided that day were all consumed! Many of the
Tin Lizzies and other guests brought dishes to share and the food was delicious and
plentiful. Friends from the Model A Club & the V-8 Club were also in attendance and it was a
wonderful opportunity to see such a wide variety of vintage Fords in one place.
With nice warm weather, excellent participation in the
parade, and a wonderful venue at the Azevedo's spacious and gracious home, it was a great
day!
