Return to MTFCA Business Meeting main page
This year, for the first time, the annual general meeting was accompanied with several technical seminars on a
variety of topics including transmissions, babbitting, front axle alignment, coils, camshaft timing, dynamometer
testing, and camshaft bearings and transmission alignment.
Friday morning started out with Larry Azevedo discussing details about babbitting including preparation of
bearing surfaces, tinning, and the actual pouring of a rod bearing and a main bearing. Discussion included a brief
history of babbitting, the composition of Ford babbitt, the properties of babbitt, and safety precautions.
