Tn'Vittles at El Charritos and Work Party

Stan and Janice Gauna were the hosts of the Saturday morning breakfast, July 21st, and they chose El Charritos on Central near Atrisco in Albuquerque's southwest quadrant.  Six model T's were driven to the breakfast and there were 22 club members and guests.  Joining the Tin Lizzies that morning were Haley and Jerod, Stan and Janice's grandkids who rode to the restaurant in the family 1917 depot hack.  Also joining us was Noma, Betty Housholder's friend and neighbor.  El Charritos is known for its spicy New Mexican food and the Club had a great breakfast.

After breakfast, many members drove to Larry and Lorna's house to resume work on Bruce's 1926 coupe restoration project.  There were several people on hand that day to focus on starting the engine, working on the doors, installing a cowl gasket, and repairing a radiator.  With a bit of tinkering and adjustments, Larry and the crew got the engine to fire and eventually stay lit!  The original Tiger timer was rotating crookedly, so Larry used an original style timer instead and the engine ran very smoothly although briefly as there was no radiator present.  Up until this time, it wasn't known what condition the engine was in as it hadn't run since the 1970's!  Everyone was relieved that the engine ran so well.  It meant that the Club members could focus on putting the car back together and not have to worry about pulling the engine or having to rebuild it at this time.  A lot of progress was made that day and starting the engine was a great milestone!
