National
MTFCA Meeting and
Cruise to Ensenada, Mexico
By Lorna Azevedo
The Carnival Ship,
Paradise, sailed from Long Beach, Ca, on March, 4, 2011, on a 3 day cruise to Ensenada, Mexico. This is
the same location where the Queen Mary is docked, & a couple of our members spent the night aboard the Queen
Mary before boarding the Paradise. About 50 Model T Ford enthusiasts from several states attended this
2011 National Meeting sponsored by the Orange County California Model T Ford Club. The Tin Lizzies of
Albuquerque had the most Club members at a National meeting for two years in a row! There were 12 of us
who couldn’t wait to set sail on this beautiful ship including Kathy & John Miles, Betty Housholder,
Linda Riel, Dean Van Doren, Larry & Lorna Azevedo, MaryAnn & Neil O'Brien, Bernice Young, Julie &
Russell Dilts.
The first day we boarded
about noon, had a wonderful buffet lunch, & leaned over the railing to watch as the ship disembarked from
its moorings. That evening we hit the clubs, shows, & just visited with each other, & any other
person we recognized as a MTFCA attendee.

On the 5th
when we awoke, we were docked at Ensenada, Mexico. Several people enjoyed visiting the shops & bars of
Ensenada, & others took the beautiful wine country tour. Some stayed aboard the ship. Our day
went way too fast, & soon it was about 400P, & we hurried back to the ship to make sure we weren’t left
behind!

On the 6th,
we were at sea all day for the leisurely trip back to Long Beach. We ate, visited, ate some more, worked
out, took saunas, massages, & ate some more. The business meeting was held at 3PM on board the ship
& lasted about an hour or so. After the meeting, we had an elegant dinner & went to clubs, shows,
casinos, or back to our rooms. Some of us even attended the 11:30 PM buffet so we could eat one more time
before the night was over.

We had a great time,
& have so many great memories of this short 3 day cruise. We brought back a few souvenirs from the
cruise. There were some liqueur glasses, some Mexican vases, jewelry, leather items, & Bernice Young brought
back a couple of cracked ribs….but that’s one you’ll have to ask her about. I hear that she was dashing down
some dimly lit stairs trying to get in on some high priced Bingo cards, but surely that can’t be the story, can
it??
Can’t wait for the next
Bon Voyage!!
