Work Party at the Azevedo's Garage

On this Saturday, May 26th, the regular work party Club members were joined by Roger and Janie who drove a beautifully restored 1963 Corvette that day.  Roger had restored the car himself and he had facinating stories to tell about tracking down parts and the restoration process.

The focus this Saturday was differential rebuilding and wheel-related projects.  Tom had brought the the differential, torque tube, and radius rods from his 1926 touring to be dismantled, cleaned, and assessed to determine what parts needed replacement.  Stan and Bob assisted Tom with that project and luckily, the gears showed acceptable wear.

Larry was replacing the aged original spokes on his 1923 truck rear wheels with new hickory ones to match the front wheels that he had already completed.  Dean was also replacing the tired spokes on his recently acquired 1918 depot hack that had bright red painted wheels.  Dean's friend Bruce also joined that day and we all hope that he joins our Club!

Everyone took a lunch break outside on the covered patio and enjoyed the fantastic scenery.  After lunch, Larry showed everyone the progress he had made building sets and scenery for his model train collection.  This recent work included buildings of different time periods and even a black smith's shop!  Other work that afternoon included welding in wire wheel stud holes on Mark's Sure-Stop disc brake drums.  After welding and grinding, the drums will be drilled out with the correct six hole pattern for wood spoke wheels.

Thank you to Larry and Lorna for a wonderful work party!
