Work Party at the Azevedo's
Garage
Larry and Lorna hosted a work party on November 5th so club members could continue existing projects or
begin new ones. Our MTFCA President Tom Miles brought along a Canadian Model T short block for
rebuilding. The block will be rebuilt by Larry and auctioned as a fund raiser toward the annual business
meeting to be held in Albuquerque in March of 2012. At this work party, the block, which had been stored
outside for some time, was unloaded, mounted to an engine stand, and examined for wear. Upon closer
inspection, the block appeared to be in good condition, but enough out of tolerance that the cam shaft would have
to be reground, the cylinders bored out, and the block resurfaced. Larry and Kirk milled the block to
accept oversized valves and Tom blasted the block with high-pressure water in preparation
for sending it out for the major machining work.
Other projects that day included
Russell cleaning up tools he had purchased, John continuing on his speedster differential rebuilding, Kirk
practicing his milling skills under Larry's instruction, and Mark media blasting and wire brushing engine parts
from his 1925 touring car. We later took a break for lunch that included green chili stew, fried chicken, and
quiche. The Tin Lizzies never go hungry!
Thanks again to Larry and Lorna
for opening up their home and garage for these fantastic work parties!
