On Saturday our group was joined by Susan, who had driven to Grants Friday afternoon, and Steve who had driven from Albuquerque that morning.  We headed out about 830AM on Highway 117 into the El Malpais.  Our first stop was a ranger station where we enjoyed the ranger’s stories & sat & watched lots of hummingbirds at their feeders.  The guys put a new fan belt on Dean’s car, & then we headed on up the road.  Our next stop was the Sandstone Bluff Lookout.  It was a gorgeous site, & many pictures were snapped as brave souls hiked around on the sandstone to get views of the magnificent vistas.
